Trans Advice Community Meeting - 2/28/2025

ANNOUNCEMENTS

TA raised $315 USD during January and February, which is held by Hypatia on behalf of TA, but may be spent as budgeted by the group. Because Trans Advice is a collective, and not a nonprofit/NGO, Hypatia is a 501(c)(3) non-profit in the US that is doing "directed" donations to TA.

AGENDA/PROPOSALS

• Make a Spacebar Server - PASSED*
  • The creation of a Spacebar server was proposed and discussed during the meeting. A Spacebar server is a self-hosted alternative to Discord, which would not replace IRC or Discord, but would be a third option to complement the two. The proposal was submitted by @Linn.
  • The Technical Committee will be responsible for setting up the server, with a start date in March.
  • The proposal passed without any blocks, subject to any remote blocks as provided in the bylaws.
• Put Donate and Transparency Page on Website - PASSED*
  • This proposal was to put a donate and transparency page on the website, which links to the Hypatia donation page and provides quarterly transparency reports.
  • @Elisa and the Technical Committee would be responsible for the reporting. The donors would have the opportunity to opt-in to being listed.
  • Donation tiers and rewards were suggested, and while it was clarified that no special privileges or perks would be conveyed in exchange for donations the idea of gifts was met with general interest. Examples of such gifts to donors included plushies, pins, and patches. These being outside the scope of the original proposal, it was agreed that such gifts would be raised in a separate proposal.
